• A Note on Content

I'm currently working on a cultural studies book about surveillance in post-9/11 cinema. Part of that research requires that I keep up with the steady stream of news articles related to surveillance, which is very difficult because there is so much. So for the time being, I'm going to use this site to aggregate those news articles. I'll make it clear what is my writing and what is others', and I'd love it if this becomes a gateway for anyone seeking out the same kind of information and a place where we can discuss the issues raised by surveillance reportage.

  1. The interview with the sisters from “The Things We Carry” was especially interesting to me. Their story even brought tears to my eyes and memories to my mind. Thanks for a great interview. By the way. Mr. Marker is quite good looking.

  2. Aw shucks.
It hadn’t even occurred to me that that movie might ring true for you. The mother in the movie has substance abuse problems, but they stem largely from depression, etc. Hearing stories about grandma, the movie mom’s erratic behavior probably is similar.

I met a lot of really interesting people last week. It was a great time, and something I’d like to do more of.
    Talk to you soon!
