Movie stars often make the rest of us look terrible. Especially those of us who’ve reached the mid- to late thirties and are noticing the effects of gravity on the body. Even if you’re a good-looking guy who stays in moderately healthy shape, how can you possibly measure up to the Brad Pitts and Matt Damons of the world?
Well, recently I attended a preview screening of Journey to the Center of the Earth, and star Brendan Fraser was there for the Q & A. Fraser may not be in the Pitt-Clooney stratosphere, but from what I’ve been told, he still raises the body temperature for plenty of females. I am happy to report to my fellow thirtysomething fathers, that Fraser looks exactly like us. He’s got 3 kids of his own and turns 40 this December. And it shows!
This isn’t a slam on the guy – in fact, just the opposite. He made no attempt to polish the veneer and was very down-to-earth. But he’s at least 10 pounds overweight, pale, and had rings under his eyes.
It was inspiring.
