We have a 3-year old son. I’m happy to report that he shows the early signs of a sense of humor, and last week he gave us more evidence.
You remember that old song that goes, “Someone’s knockin on the door, Somebody’s ringin the bell”? (Side note: my wife goes around singing obscure pop songs spontaneously. I, on the other hand, walk around singing obscure 70s metal and 80s New Wave. Our marriage works because neither has met anyone else who also knows these songs.)
So the three of us are walking into the house, and my wife has been singing that song. I open the front door, and my son is right behind me. He walks up to the door, sings “Someone’s knockin on the door,” then he knocks on our door. He then sings, “Somebody’s ringing the bell,” and rings our doorbell. He then begins to walk through the doorway and his foot slips. He catches himself and sings, “Oops! Somebody’s slipping.”
We’ve booked him at the Funny Bone next Friday. Would that be considered over-zealous parenting?
